IT Innovators Club – 08/04/2014

  • Location:Central London
  • Venue:The Haymarket Hotel
  • Length:06:30 pm – 09:00 pm

Are you keeping pace with the competition?

Join us on the 8th April for an exclusive dinner discussion at the glamorous Haymarket Hotel where the IT Innovators Club will meet for its third soirée of 2014. The evening will bring together sixteen IT leaders to voice their opinions on the technology trends that are set to dominate the coming year.

Major technological changes are expected in 2014, the key to keeping pace with the competition will be the ability to distinguish between those ideas that demonstrate long term business value, and the short term fads that will have limited impact.

The roundtable discussion will centre around three technologies whose neglect could result in a struggle to keep pace with the industry whilst their adoption could propel a business forefront of IT Innovation. In each case we’ll be examining the key drivers behind these trends. Asking if IT departments will expand internally or externally to keep up with business demands? And whether there is an upcoming transition from technology-led businesses to service-led businesses?

Three changes we’ll examine are:

1)      Big Data

It’s hard to ignore the hype surrounding Big Data and opinions are strongly divided. Whilst some claim that it has revolutionised the way in which we use information, others would argue that it is a short term fad. So is it the technology trend of the future or just a buzzword? Furthermore, if they are to embrace big data how will the organisation expand to deal with the greater infrastructure demands?

2)      Mobility

Most would argue that we cannot escape the inevitability of mobility, it is happening. The struggle facing those tasked with implementing it is how to introduce corporate mobility policies that are reasonable, acceptable and enforceable. We live in an age where the success of mobility is highly dependent on user experience. Should a business opt for a COD policy, one that restricts user freedom but offers reassuring security, or do they implement BYOD in the full knowledge that it poses greater risk?

3)      As-A-Service

Lastly we will pick up on where we left off at the last IT Innovators Club dinner, discussing the ways in which introduction new XaaS business will impact on internal departments in the coming years. Will we see the evolution of a new kind of IT Department, one that functions as a conduit between the business and a portfolio of specialist technology and service providers?

The event will commence at 18:30 with half an hour of networking drinks at the spectacular Pewter poolside bar. At 19:00 guests will move through to the luxurious dining room where the discussion will begin. Typically the discussions last one hour and will be followed by a five star, three course meal, over which our guests are free to relax, network, and enjoy the evening.

Places are strictly limited so act now to reserve your place. The event is free for selected guests thanks to the support of our sponsors Logicalis.
